Take a Tour Tuesday – Living Room

Sorry I flaked out on you last week. We were really busy with RU and the Teens but I’m back and here is our Living Room for you to take a peek at :)

Here is the view from our bedroom door – Yes we moved the living room around… again :) but I think its going to be like this for a while (especially since Kenny put hooks up for the surround sound wires and speakers).

These are the only two pictures I have up on the wall :S (I’m still working on the decorating part) but I have a really good idea that I’ll be sharing soon… as soon as I get the pictures taken!

Here is a closer shot of the entertainment center. I really love that you can just barely see the cords! Kenny did a really good job at hiding/tacking those up. :)

Next week I’ll be showing the Dining Room. I’m really enjoying getting to show off our house, and I hope your enjoying taking a peak. What I’m really excited about is showing you some of the projects I have whizzing around in my mind like picture idea’s, fall decorating, and DIY projects to make our home pretty :) Until then… :)

RU Sunday

Our church has had an RU program (Reformers Unanimous, Drug Addictions program) for one year now. Yesterday we had an RU Celebration Sunday, this is just a full Sunday devoted to those in our RU program and the things they have overcome through Jesus Christ. One thing I really like about the program is that it doesn’t focus on the addict or the addiction and how to overcome, but rather, it focuses on the addict and their relationship with God and how He is the only one that can break the chains of addiction in a Believer’s life.

Its not about Sobriety, its about the Changed Life.”

One of the first things we did were cardboard testimonies. I’ve included a link to a video on youtube that was made by Reformers Unanimous about Card Board Testimonies.

Here are some pictures of us preparing on Tuesday night for our own cardboard testimonies.

The special speaker for the day was Dr. George Crabb, he is a Dr. who specializes in addiction medication. He spoke for all three services and showed in scripture where drug abuse – even of prescription drugs – is Biblically wrong. God uses pain and suffering in our lives to help us grow spiritually and be able to sympathize with others who, in the future, will experience what we are going through. During the evening service he had a question and answer time where anyone could ask any question about medications, drug abuse, and what the Bible says.

It was a great day and we had a good turn out and several people said that they received help from what Dr. Crabb talked about.

Cindy, our Pastor’s wife took pictures during the service so when I get those from her I’ll post those for you all to see.

Thankful Thursday – Laugh-a-ble Moments

We’ve been rather busy this week with the teens and getting ready for RU Sunday, I’ll tell you more about that later. Today I’m thankful to be married to a man who will do silly things if it will bring a teenager to church.

Kenny, recently has started growing a “goatee” just for something different.

Christmas 2006_thumb[1]Here he is with his brother Wesley, so you get the basic picture of what that looks like.

Kenny has started going on Tuesdays and Thursdays to the high school during their lunch period to sit with our teens, meet their friends, check up on what they’re doing, how their day is going, etc. Brandon, one of our teens we hadn’t seen in a while came over and started joking about Kenny’s goatee, telling him he should shave it all off and just leave a “soul patch” – a small triangle patch of hair under the bottom lip. Kenny told Brandon that he would do it IF Brandon came to church Wednesday night.

Well… Brandon came to church :)

P8250023 it took a couple tries to get a “good” picture…

P8250024

It also took A LOT of begging to get him to let me publish the pictures on here :)

Kenny is going to see the teens for lunch today and show Brandon his soul patch. Then, he said, he was “shaving the rest of it right off!”

I know this is kinda silly but we love our teens and we’ll do silly things sometimes if it means they come to church and hear God’s word.

*If you think about it, some of our teens don’t have the best home life. Please pray for them to be faithful so Kenny and I, along with the Church can show them the love of Jesus and hopefully give them a safe place to get away from the stresses of everyday life for them. Thank you.*

Camp Crossroads 2011

I’m sorry this is soooo late! But better late than never right? Kenny and I took 6 teenagers from our church to Camp Crossroads in Danielstown, GA, the last week of July. P7240002

We left Sunday, July 24th after the morning service.

Here is Emily between Sunday School and the morning service writing on the van.

P7240004

Kenny had everyone wear our T.E.A.M. 412 t-shirts for the trip down to Georgia.

Taylor and Brandon ducked out of this picture :S

Kenny and I were both counselors for the week and  DSC01038somehow ended up being team leaders as well… for the BLUE team! (if you know my husband you’d know his favorite color is red, it was even our main wedding color because he likes red so much!) Kenny said he only brought 2 blue shirts with him for the week so here he is trying to make himself look blue!

There were 13 girls in my cabin plus myself and another counselor, and only 2 bathrooms! I was getting up at 5-5:30 am so I could get a shower before the girls started getting up.

DSC00860Its ok though, I enjoyed some really nice sunrises!

We enjoyed all sorts of things at camp.

We also spent one whole day at Six Flags over Georgia!

All in all we had an amazing week. The teens had a blast but more importantly there were 13 teens that accepted Christ and many, many other decisions to stand up and live for Christ.

Thank you all so much for your prayers on our behalf!

Teen Room

I still have a couple more things I’d like to do to this room before I’m “Finished” but here is what I’ve done so far.

 DSC01070DSC01069

This is what the teen room door used to look like, front and back (actually this is Kenny’s office door front and back because I forgot to get the original pictures before, but you get the idea).P8170002-1

This is the inside (back) of the door. I used Chalkboard paint on the door so when the teens feel the urge to color on the door they can now wash it off when they are done. Also its been a great place to post notes to the teens about memory verses.

We have some bright colored paint that was used in the children’s Sunday School classroom I think I might use as a border around the edge of the door. It just feels like its missing something.

P8170001

Here is the front of the door where the teens and their parents can see what activities are coming up soon and how they are doing in the points area.

I have plans to make little ninja’s out of scrapbook paper for each of our teens to post their points on.

P8170003

This is the wall next to the door. It will be used for a collage’ of our different youth activities.

P8170004I didn’t set this up but I think its a great idea. this is where the teens can get information on different Christian and Bible Colleges. And of course its set up near the well used foosball table :)

Those are some of the projects I’ve been working on and I still have some left to do but I’ll keep ya posted!

Take a Tour Tuesday – Master Bedroom

I tried to post this yesterday but Blogger was having troubles so I’m sorry this is a day late.

This is actually my favorite room, one because it has the most natural light and two because its the warmest room in our house! I also really love how the colors came together in this room. But enough talking about it I’ll just show you.

P8160091 This is what you’d see walking in our room from the Living room.

P8160098

I bought these pillow cases last Christmas online, Kenny kind of rolled his eyes when he first saw them but I think he secretly likes them now :)

P8160095

The red roses you see on this dresser was my bouquet from our wedding. I just took it apart and reworked it in the white vase

P8160093

And to the right of the jewelry box is the door to our bathroom which you saw last week :)

Well that’s all folks! For this week anyways, next week I’ll be showing you the living room, hope you come back and visit.

Thankful Thursday – My Friend Stephany

DSCF0219Stephy and I grew up together, went to church together, college, she was my maid of honor and she has always been a great friend. This summer has brought a lot of changes for her, she accepted a teaching position at a Christian school about an hour or so away from where we both grew up. This puts her closer to Chipotle and Qdoba which makes me a little jealous, (notDSCF0309 really, I’m very happy for her). I know she is really excited and probably a little nervous about making this move but I know God has something great in store for her.

I am very grateful for such a supportive and Christ honoring friend, she truly desires to serve God in every area of her life. Stephy has DSCF0329 been a great encouragement to me in many areas and I know no matter what’s going on I can always talk to her.

So thanks Stephy for everything and good luck in your new job! DSCF0202

Take a Tour Tuesday – Master Bath

Starting today I will be showing off a room of our house every Tuesday. I decided to start with the Master Bath because I’ll just move from one end of the house to the other, in reality this bathroom is the most organized so it made the most sense to start there :)
P8050077 Our bathroom is “L” shaped around the closet
P8050079

Our colors for the bathroom are Red, Black and White.
I just love our “G” sign

P8050080
P8050081
I talked about the Bath Soak and Sugar Scrub that I make here if you’d like to make your own. By the way, the red roses are leftover from a centerpiece at our wedding reception. I’ve used a lot of our wedding decor to decorate our house.
P8050087 P8050085
P8050084 This is one of the cute centerpieces my Mom-in-law made to decorate for the Rehearsal Dinner for our Wedding.
P8050086
This is a basket my Mom bought at a yard sale for $.50 and I reworked one of the pew bows from our wedding for the top.
P8050090

Just a quick look at our closet, don’t look too close I’m just including it because its part of our bathroom.

P8050082 Well that concludes the bathroom tour.
I hope you enjoyed your visit, come back soon!
