Business Opportunity – Opinions Needed

I am considering opening an Etsy© Store to sell some of my photography. To be completely honest I’m a little nervous about putting myself “out there.” :S What I’m asking for here is just an honest opinion of whether you all think I could make a go of this as a small business. – I really do what an Honest Opinion, if you don’t think it’ll work or if you have suggestion for improvement I’d be glad to hear your idea’s :) Anyways that’s enough said here are some of the pictures:

Copy of DSC01249 DSC01170 DSC01244 DSC01254I wouldn’t be my Father’s child if I didn’t include a cup of COFFEE :)

I would appreciate if you passed the word around to get others to view my pictures, in an effort to receive unbiased opinions as to whether you all think these will sell.  These photos are only posted here, on my blog.

Thank you all, in advance, for taking the time to look and review my work.

Take a Tour Tuesday…on Wednesday

This week we have the Guest Bedroom, Bathroom and the Storage Room – which we lovingly refer to as “The Man Cave.” :) I’ll show you the man cave first so we end on a high note.

DSC01136 The reason its call the man cave is; this is where the hunting, motorcycle, car stuff goes. Oh, and the seasonal decor. Now on to the bathroom.

DSC01139 When Kenny and I were first dating he told me, if we ever lived in a house with 2 bathrooms I could decorate the spare bath with ducks.

DSC01140 I wonder if he thought I’d never actually do that :S

Down the hall from the man cave and the bathroom is one of my favorite rooms

DSC01127

DSC01130 This room, along with the Master Bedroom and Den all have a lot of natural light.

DSC01129 DSC01135 I also like this room for the closet :) This is where all the extra stuff is, cleaning supplies, gift wrap, ya know “extra’s that you don’t know where to store” :)

That’s all for the Home Tour! I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look at our house. I’m hoping to start next week with showing how we’ve made this house our own space.

These next few pictures were all taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Thankful Thursday – Extra Work

DSC01075

September and October (and sometimes even November) for some reason is the “slow season” for Barbers. Its been like that for the five years I’ve been barbering and from what some of the old-time barbers, who have now retired, have told me they always took their vacations this time of year because business is just slow.

Today I am thankful for the opportunity I had on Tuesday to work an extra day for my friend, Amanda. Also, being able to stay the night at my Mom and Dad’s house kept me from having any added expense of driving down the mountain to work. It still wasn’t a super busy day on Tuesday, but just a little extra cushion in the bank account always helps. :)

What has happened this week that your Thankful for?

My Salvation Testimony

I gave you Kenny’s testimony this morning, you can read about it here if you missed it. I wanted to go ahead and give you mine today as well. Both of these will be linked to on the ‘All About Us’ page here on the blog as well as the story of how we met and all that jazz :)

I, like Kenny, grew up in a Christian home. I don’t really remember what prompted it but one day when I was 5 or 6 I started asking my Dad about different members of our family and whether or not they were saved. Because of my questions my Dad believed I was ready to be shown the plan of salvation. My Mom and I sat on the porch swing as she took her Bible and read different verses about how you can be saved. I remember saying a prayer but I struggled later on with whether I had really understood what I was doing. Sometimes a preacher would say in his message that if you can’t remember the verses you read or the words of your prayer then your probably not saved – which, by the way, is a false statement, its not what you read or what you say that makes you saved, its your recognition that you are a sinner,

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

and your believe in Jesus Christ’s death on the cross as payment for your sins to give you eternal life (salvation).

John 3:15 “That whosoever believeth in him (Jesus) should not perish, but have eternal life.

Unfortunately, I continued to struggle with my salvation. By the time I turned 16 we had switched churches and my new friends just assumed that I was saved and I was too embarrassed to admit my problem. I went to Camp Barnabas – a Christian camp for teenagers - that summer. In Monday evenings message I was under a lot of conviction to go forward and talk to someone about salvation but I was worried what my friends would say, that they would make fun or be mad at me for lying to them. The preacher said something that night in his invitation that I’ll never forget “No one will make fun of you for coming forward for salvation, if they are your true friends they will rejoice along with you that you have finally gotten this settled.” That was all I needed, I all but ran to my counselor. The preacher was right too, they did rejoice! :)

Don’t be like me, waiting, struggling, wondering about salvation. If your not sure or if all of this is new to you, don’t wait, talk to someone today!

Kenny’s Salvation Testimony

I wanted to share a little more about Kenny and I here on the blog and a major part of what makes us who we are is the fact that we are both Christians. I asked Kenny to write out his personal, salvation testimony for me to post on here, so this is Kenny, my guest blogger for today!DSC01038

“I was Born and raised in a Christian home.  At the age of seven, me and my family rode bicycles to a fourth of July fireworks celebration.  on the return trip, late at night and after dark, I began to get frightened at all the noises I heard and things I saw.  I spoke with my mother when we got home, because I was scared about where I would be if I died.  During the invitation the following Sunday I went with my mom and talked with my SS teacher about how I could receive Christ.  It was on that day that I knew I was a sinner and if I would have passed into eternity that I would have spent it apart from Jesus Christ.  So that day, in child-like faith, I put my faith in Christ.  I believed that He came to earth to die for me, was buried and rose again on the third day. The best way I knew how I asked Jesus to come into my heart, to forgive me of my sin and to save my soul.  Rom. 10:9-13

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Through the years, mostly because of my age, I have doubted whether I was truly saved.  The one thing that really confirmed in my mind that I have received Christ is an event that happened to me at the age of 16.  On that day I was going out with my dad to help him finish a roof and I fell asleep at the wheel and rolled the truck.  No one was hurt at all and that in itself is a miracle.  Needless to say something like that makes a person think and I thought of how close I came to dying that day.  I know that God has a special plan for my life or I would not be here today.  But I knew that day that if I had died that I would be in heaven right now.  I would just ask if our places were switched and you had died in that accident would you be able to say the same thing.”

So what about Kenny’s question? Would you know where you were going to spend eternity? If your answer to these questions is no, you don’t know where your going or maybe you just not sure, please feel free to contact me. I would love to show you how you can be 100% sure that your going to Heaven.

Take a Tour Tuesday – Other Living Room?

I guess you actually would call this room the Den… We don’t actually use this room very much.

I do enjoy sitting at the desk there by the window. Considering that the sun doesn’t shine straight into these windows, this room is very bright! Not quite sure how that works :S

This is technically in the dining room but I love it. Ever since I saw my Mom-in-Law’s, she has a metal rod thingy with clips on it to display her cards and pictures on at the base of the stairs, I just had to find something similar of my own. :)

Well that’s all folks! Next week will actually be the last week I’ll be giving you a tour of the house. I have a couple idea’s for what I’ll be blogging next but figured I’d ask, is there anything you would like to see or hear about?

Fall!

Fall is my favorite time of year, I just love all the colors that are spread across the trees and ground. I’ve always wondered why people go through the trouble of raking all of those pretty leaves out of their yards just to have the wind blow and dump a million more on the ground as soon as you finish! Its times like that that I know God has a sense of humor!

One thing that I have really enjoyed about living in the mountains are all of the Japanese Red Maple trees, they are everywhere! I told Kenny, whenever we get around to buying a house, I’d like to have a least one (if not more) Japanese Red Maples in our yard.

Just so you know the picture above, of a Red Maple tree, is from Google© (love that site!) I had taken a picture to show you of our mountain, fall leaves but I forgot to get it off of the camera and then left the camera at home, so you’ll just have to wait to see the picture I took.

Has anyone else been out enjoying the Fall colors?

Update... a Looong over due Update

I was informed recently by a friend (cough.. Shannon.. cough cough) that I needed to post an update on my blog. Gotta love friends that tell you what to do! :)
Over the past month or so we have had Homecoming and Fall revival at church. A Homecoming Football game activity with the teenagers (Kenny called it the 5th quarter, I thought it was pretty cool sounding).
Also, with the cooler temperature setting in, our house is the new lodging place of a rather smart, and very brave, mouse.:S (this is the part were you say ewwwwy!) Kenny is, at this very moment, trying to catch this brave fellow by laying on the kitchen floor with the mouse trapped under the stove. - I knew I loved that man!
The other wild life around our house include a herd (yes, I said herd because there's like a million of them) of rabbits, a racoon (which, I'm convinced, has been trying to ride Kenny's motorcycle) and several deer. Kenny and I feel like we're living on a start-up Dr Doolittle farm! If a horse with glasses shows up at the back door... well I don't know what I'll do :)
I hope you all are doing well. I intend to start Blogging regularly again (hopefully) this next week. Until then watch "Mouse Hunt" and laugh as you think of us! :)
